Your child's information, in plain English.
L1fe Academy is a teaching platform — a COPPA-regulated operator, not a school. We are not required to publish this notice; we publish it because we want you to know exactly what we do with your child's data.
The four sentences below are also the consent-surface header inside the product, and they are part of every parent agreement.

What we collect, how, and why
L1fe Academy collects the smallest amount of information needed to teach your child well, and only with your consent. Your child's information is stored in your country (United States during the alpha) and is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Who we share with
Your child's information stays inside L1fe Academy. We share only with the named service providers below, each of which is bound by a written agreement to use your child's data only to operate the academy, never to train commercial models or to advertise.
You stay in control
You can review every category of data we hold about your child at any time, change any consent setting at any time, ask us to export it, or ask us to delete it. We complete deletion within 30 days.
What we will never do
We never sell your child's data. We never share it with advertisers. We never use it to train commercial AI models outside the academy. We never share it with other families.
What we collect

The list below is exhaustive for Phase 0. We will update this page (and re-notify you) if we add a category.
Learner profile
Your child's name, age, grade equivalent, and the cognitive / interest answers from intake.
Retention: Held while the account is open, then deleted within 30 days of account closure.
Mastery records (semantic)
What concepts your child has demonstrated mastery of, where their frontier is, where they struggle.
Retention: Held while the account is open. Deleted on parent request within 30 days.
Episodic activity
Per-session activity log: what lesson your child did, what they asked, what the tutor replied.
Retention: 30 days for unflagged episodic activity, after which it rolls into the semantic mastery summary and the verbatim turns are purged. Flagged moments (wellbeing signals you have not yet acknowledged) are held until you do.
Tutor transcripts
Verbatim child-to-tutor conversation. Visible in the parent dashboard only when Enhanced consent is on.
Retention: Same window as episodic activity. Revoking Enhanced consent removes the transcript view within 60 seconds.
Account & billing
Your name, email, billing address, and a hashed payment method reference.
Retention: Held while the account is open and for the period required to satisfy tax and accounting law (typically 7 years), then deleted.
Consent records
Each consent moment is signed by your device and stored as an immutable audit row.
Retention: Held while the account is open and for a short period after account closure as proof of consent — required by law.
Who we share with
Named service providers, each under written agreement.
L1fe Academy does not have an unnamed-third-parties category. The list below is exhaustive.
Anthropic (Claude language model)
Generates lessons and powers the tutor agent. Receives the prompt context for the current turn only.
Zero-data-retention agreement (`zdr-2025-q1`). Anthropic does not retain prompts after the response is generated, and does not train commercial models on your child's data.
Persona (identity verification)
Verifies that you are the parent on the account during the initial parent-verification step.
Bound by a written agreement to use verification data only for the verification itself, not to train commercial models or to advertise.
Payment processor
Processes your subscription. Sees your billing information; never sees your child's learning data.
Bound by a payment-processing agreement and PCI-DSS standards. Never receives anything about your child.
Email provider
Sends sign-in links and account notices to you.
Bound by a service agreement to use the email metadata only to deliver the message. Never receives anything about your child.
Phase 0 does not use a cloud speech-to-text service. Voice answers your child gives, when they give them, are transcribed on our own servers and never sent to a third-party voice service.
Your rights
Review, export, change, delete — at any time.
- Review. Every category above is reviewable from the parent dashboard at any time.
- Export. From your account page, request a signed copy of every record we hold for your child. Delivered as a single JSON file.
- Change. Each consent tier can be turned on or off at any time from the dashboard. Operational consent can only be changed by closing the account.
- Delete. Close your child’s account from the dashboard, or email us. We complete deletion within 30 days. Consent records and the billing records required by tax law are retained per the table above.
